Hey guys, welcome to Greek month here at Authors are ROCKSTARS! Why is it Greek month? Well, because we love Greek mythology. And it just so happens that Greek myths are the hot new thing in YA lit! Three awesome, Greek-inspired books hit the shelves this month, and we're here to tell you all about them. We had the great privilege of sitting down with Josie Angelini for this month's author interview. Besides being a total sweetheart, she is completely brilliant. Event Report: Holly Black and Cassandra Clare

On Sunday, April 10, the fabulous Holly Black and Cassandra Clare wowed an audience of over 250 people in Mission Viejo, CA as part of their City of Fallen Angels/Red Glove book tour. Both authors treated us to readings from their books- we got an enticing sneak preview of the first chapter of Cassie's next book, Clockwork Prince, and Holly read two amazing excerpts from Red Glove. It was unbelievably cool to hear them read from their own work.


They also answered tons of questions from the audience. Naturally, the very first question right out of the gate was: "Is Alex Pettyfer going to star as Jace in The Mortal Instruments movies?" Everyone wants to know, right?? But as Cassie graciously explained, she has absolutely no control over it. (And we here at Authors are ROCKSTARS! can't wait for the movie, whoever is cast!)


Both ladies were incredibly generous with their time, chatting individually with each person who came through the book signing line, and answering questions. Their fans were really enthusiastic. One girl brought a gorgeous scrapbook she had created as a school project detailing Cassie's writing career- and she asked Cassie to sign it. How awesome is that?!

It was truly such a pleasure to meet these amazing authors and get a chance to chat with them. Michelle and I still can't get over how cool they are. Our exclusive interview with Cassie and Holly is coming up in the next post!

Soo... the top secret project is revealed! Dun dun dun..

Authors are ROCKSTARS! is a new podcast by Allison (@alli_librarian on Twitter) and Michelle (@nggu_reviews). We are two somewhat geeky ladies who absolutely adore young adult literature. We both blog about it, but we wanted to have another outlet to share our love of YA. And so... the idea for this podcast was BORN!

To us, authors are ROCKSTARS! I cannot tell you how much we gush over books on our weekly walks with our kids. We love reading and we wanted to give authors the recognition they deserve. So, every month, we'll be interviewing an author or two and sharing these awesome interviews with you guys. Pretty cool, right? Not only will we have awesome interviews, but we'll be sharing news and reviews on YA lit releases, doing fun giveaways, and sharing some rockin' music. So yeah, kick butt music, book reviews, giveaways, and author interviews. It's the whole enchilada.

Our first podcast should be hitting the 'net by Thursday or Friday, knock on wood. We were so lucky to get the opportunity to sit down and chat with Cassandra Clare and Holly Black. They are such AMAZING ladies and seriously, they are both ROCKSTARS! We'll post pictures of the crowd from the event we attended. It was an incredible sight. So much love for great books & rockstar authors in one room!
