Elisa Ludwig: Debut Author Edition

We are pleased to announce a new type of podcast to our line-up this year: a special debut author edition! In partnership with The Story Siren's Debut Author Challenge, we are hosting 10-15 minute special edition episodes with debut authors. Kristi from The Story Siren will be joining us as a guest co-host on the podcast whenever her busy schedule allows. She's super awesome, and we're excited to have her on board!

In our inaugural debut author edition podcast, we had the opportunity to chat with Elisa Ludwig, whose modern-day Robin Hood story, Pretty Crooked, comes out March 13 from Katherine Tegen Books. We discussed her writing background, her experience with private schools (which comes through in her book!) and what exciting things she has coming up next.

Beth Revis: February Podcast

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! We love you all and hope everyone has a beautiful, love filled day. To do our part, we present our February podcast where we share our love of books, of course. (See what we did there??) Our book picks this month are Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi and Chopsticks by Jessica Anthony and Rodrigo Corral.

Also on the show, New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis joins us on the podcast this month to discuss her newly released book, A Million Suns, sequel to last year's Across the Universe.

Screenshot of us during the interview with Beth Revis. See, we don't just hire voice actors to impersonate authors!

In the interview, we chat about her wonderfully nerdy influences (go Brown Coats!), and Beth answers the important question we've all been wondering: will there be Daleks in book 3??

Well, what are you waiting for? How could you NOT want to know the answer to this question? Click play and listen to it via our website. You can also find us on iTunes or download a mp3 by clicking the link below. Now go... (heard in the background: EXTERMINATE...EXTERMINATE) before it is too late!

Changes to Passion & Prose

We've been notified that some major changes are afoot at Passion & Prose!

This exciting conference for book lovers is only two weeks away, and we want to share some new info you need to know. The organizers of the event have responded to popular demand and found a way to lower the price of the conference-- the new cost of the event is $65 per person.

What does this mean? The conference schedule will be scaled back somewhat, but will still be packed with a great lineup of amazing romance authors. There's a new cap on the number of attendees, which means the event may sell out quickly-- but those who attend can look forward to a goodie bag that's worth at least half the cost of their event ticket! It also means the conference organizers have lowered their costs as much as they possibly can, so there are no longer any special discounts available.

Guests who have already registered for the conference at the previous rate can contact Passion & Prose for a refund of the difference in price, or they may choose to bring a guest for free.

See the Passion & Prose website for all the details.

The Passion & Prose conference takes place Saturday, February 25th, at the Long Beach Westin. Authors are ROCKSTARS! will be there to do interviews and event coverage, and we hope we'll see you!

Just a note: Authors are ROCKSTARS! is not affiliated with Passion & Prose. We are doing author interviews & event coverage as part of a "Road Trip" edition podcast, like we do for all the events we attend in the area. We knew this was a new event so we wanted to help get the word out there. We just love book related events and like to see them succeed in our local area! If you have any questions regarding the event or purchasing a pass, please contact the event staff via their website.

Over fifty authors will be attending. This is an amazing chance to get face to face with the people who created the books we all love so much! You can visit their website PassionandProse.org for more details.

We love that this event offers opportunities to really meet and chat with the authors-- it's going to be such a unique and memorable experience. Hope to see you there!

Lauren McLaughlin: February Special Edition

Joining us today on the program is young adult science fiction writer, Lauren McLaughlin, via Skype. She was chatting with us from across the pond! (Okay, we could have said England, but we really just wanted to say "across the pond.") Lauren's third novel, Scored, recently came out from Random House.

This book is fascinating, you guys. It should definitely be added to your "to read" list, even if you're not usually a fan of science fiction.

In the interview, Lauren talks to us about the process of writing a novel after being a screenwriter, and then learn screenwriting all over again when asked to do the screenplay of one of her books. She also discusses the themes of Scored and the research involved in its creation. Lauren gave us a really great interview, so please give it a listen and let us know what you think. We love hearing from our listeners!
